ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The International Conference on Human Mobility and Climate Action provides a venue for discourse and exploration on how leaders, communities, and agencies could respond to the complex challenges of human mobility-climate change nexus and explore possible ways forward.
With increasing urgency, there is a need to convene international leaders, experts, practitioners, advocates, and citizens to amplify discourse for timely and rights-based adaptive response to human mobility and climate action nexus.
This conference is organized by the University of the Philippines Centre International de Formation des Authorités et Leaders or International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders Philippines (UP-CIFAL Philippines). The UP-CIFAL Philippines is one of the 22 global CIFAL centers affiliated with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, (UNITAR) specializing in capacity building and research in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as migration and gender equality.
WHO CAN JOIN THE CONFERENCE?
The Conference is free and open to the public. It invites climate and environmental scientists, migration and development experts, disaster risk reduction specialists, representatives of international organizations, public servants and leaders of national government agencies and local government, members of the legislature, representatives of the industry, academic institutions, and civil society organizations from around the world.
WHEN AND WHERE?
On 18 to 20 October 2021, the Conference will be held through the virtual platform which features activities such as plenary sessions, parallel sessions, online site visits, exhibits, world café, and sociocultural activities.
The Conference brings together the perspective of people, science and planet, and governance, which resonate in three of four thematic areas of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) namely, urban governance and planning, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
