Dr. Ya Ping Wang, Chair in Global City Futures, University of Glasgow, Scotland
Professor Ya Ping Wang is Chair in Global City Futures at the School of Social and Political Sciences and Director of GCRF Centre for Sustainable, Healthy and Learning Cities and Neighbourhoods (SHLC). He was Head of Urban Studies from 2013-2015. He is Fellow of Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS) and Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institutes (MRTPI).
Ya Ping studied Geography in Xi’an, China and Town Planning in Scotland. After gaining his PhD from Edinburgh College of Art/Heriot-Watt University in 1991, he worked there as post-doctoral research fellow, lecturer, reader in planning and housing, and professor in urban studies until 2012. He was the founding Director of Scottish Centre for Chinese Urban and Environmental Studies, based at Heriot-Watt University from 2007 to 2012.
